Auckland Football Federation is pleased to announce the fixture list for the second annual AFF Pre-season Cup.
This edition is the first that features an U-16 girls tournament while the U-15 boys competition returns for its second appearance.
The boys tournament comprises two groups of six teams played over the first two match days with a knock-out round scheduled for the third.
The girls competition comprises eight teams in a league format in what looks likely to be an intense and competitive contest.
AFF Competitions Manager Angela Wallbank is excited ahead of three weekends of football that feeds directly into the Auckland City FC U-17 Youth Tournament between 18-20 March.
“Originally, the AFF Pre-season Cup was designed to fill the gap left by the withdrawal of the Nike Cup so we wanted to work on a concept to supply some meaningful pre-season opportunities for players in the youth sector.
“We received excellent feedback from the participants within the football community last year about the competition which is a major reason for our decision to expand the competition for 2017.
“Auckland Football Federation is also planning to run specifically targeted coach education opportunities during the AFF Pre-season Cup which we will be rolling out early next week,” she says.
The AFF Pre-season Cup is scheduled for Sunday 26 February, Sunday 5 March and Sunday 12 March at McLennan Park, Papakura.
