Auckland Council seek a Diversity and Sport Adviser to work within the Connect2sport project which includes Auckland Football and Auckland Badminton. Click through for more details.

Diversity and Sports Adviser – Connect2sport project. CBD based. Fixed Term, 3 year project - 20 hours per week.

This is a great opportunity to use your experience engaging with multi-cultural communities and be a part of making a tangible difference. A passion for sport is a bonus.

To say that Auckland's population is highly diverse may seem like an understatement, as the mix of peoples in terms of race, language, traditional beliefs as well as national or geographic origins from around the world is quite astounding.

Connect2sport challenges two sports, football and badminton, to think about how they can adapt and respond to Auckland's growing ethnic diversity.

The purpose of the project is specifically to build capability within Auckland Football Federation and Auckland Badminton Association to effectively engage with, and tailor sport opportunities to people from diverse ethnic backgrounds, especially people new to New Zealand in order to increase participation.

Naturally, an outcome will be to identify key success factors and also perceived barriers for these communities and create strategies to increase their sport participation specifically in football and badminton.
