Goals from Sean Goldsbury and Tom Livesey five minutes into each half provided the margin for Tauranga over Papakura at Links Avenue.
Ismael Chavez struck the Papakura goal seven minutes into the second half.
Goldsbury and Reece Edmonds led the way for Tauranga with Papakura's Ricardo Espinoza and Nial Okakpu at the front of their effort.
Waiuku AFC 3-0 Cambridge FC (half: 0-0)
All three goals came in the second spell as Waiuku took a home win over Cambridge.
Cody Ralph scored twice to improve his goal tally to 17 while second half substitute Derek Sinclair added the other.
Ralph and Sam Van Pomeron led Waiuku's effort with Ryan McNamara and Trent Frampton the best of the Cambridge side.
Hibiscus Coast AFC 1-1 Mangere Utd (half: 0-0)
Both sides shared the points in a match featuring 11 cautions at Stanmore Bay.
